Sia is back with a brilliant new single! Cheap Thrills is lifted off her brand new album called This Is Acting and features Sean Paul.
Sia and Sean Paul are probably one of the most unexpected collaborations for a while, yet it really works! There’s a version on the album without Sean Paul which just falls a bit flat, but with him adding his randomness to the track, it goes to a new level. “Cheap Thrills” sounds like it will be the next big club hit. The chorus is one of those which you can’t help but sing along to. It’s a song originally intended for Rihanna and I’m surprised she turned it down. The song sounds like it would suit her perfectly, although after hearing her new album, ANTI, I can see why she didn’t put it on there.
The accompanying video (see above) is almost genius. It’s funny in places and surprisingly fits the song very well. The latter part of the video having the signature ‘fake Sia’ dancers also mark the song very much as a Sia one. The whole video and song feel like it shouldn’t work, but it does! There’s something very fun and care free about both and you can’t help but love it.
